3.0 out of 5 stars Accurately Described (Mostly), But Beware Customer Service, November 29, 2011

As with all warranties, make sure that you read the fine print as soon as you get it. If you don't think it's worth it, cancel it. You can cancel this warranty in the first 90 days for a full refund (provided you haven't made any claims). You can also cancel any time after that and get a pro-rated refund based on how much time is left in your coverage period. This seems generous, so I'll give them kudos.

It will cover your "oopsies"... but only the main ones: like if you drop it, step on it, or drop it in the pool/bathtub/sink/toilet. So that last one probably isn't common (I hope), but you get where I'm going with the dropping-in-water concept.

Since you can't see much else besides what they write on this page, I'll highlight a few points that you might want to consider. If you read the fine print, you'll see that you're up a creek without a paddle if it's fried due to things like rain (or anything else that could be classified as "exposure to weather... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars **UPDATED**Would not consider anything other than Square Trade, October 14, 2011

****Update 04/11/12****

As my initial review was written based on my experience with SquareTrade on items other than the Kindle Fire (which had not even been released at that time) I wanted to update with info relating specifically to the Fire warranty service.

I have had to contact Square Trade because of an issue with one of my Kindle Fires and I mistakenly called the usual general warranty claim telephone number on the SquareTrade website. SquareTrade has a designated Kindle Fire specific warranty claim number which is listed on the warranty confirmation email customers receive after purchasing the Fire's warranty. It is 1-866-374-9939. Once I was connected to the right person (this was all in one phone call in less than five minutes) my issue was handled quickly, with no fuss, I did not have to provide any additional information and I had a replacement Kindle in less than 48 hours at no charge to me.

Another reviewer had mentioned concern at the... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly as advertised!!, November 17, 2011

Square trade warranties are exactly as advertised. After almost two years of abuse on my 2nd Generation Kindle, I finally broke the screen. I am a Soldier and my Kindle goes with me everywhere, Iraq and Afghanistan included. I called Amazon (from Afghanistan!) and was directed to the Kindle warranty department. In less than 5 minutes, I had a new kindle on the way to my house, and a shipping label to return my broken one at no charge. I was very impressed at how easy it was. I just purchased the Kindle fire and didn't hesitate for a second to get the additional warrantly offered by Square Trade. Keep up the great work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just As Described, November 15, 2011

This review is from: Kindle Fire Lightweight MicroShell Folio Cover by Marware, Black (Accessory)
I am a little surprised by the reviews. When I read them yesterday, I was ready to return my case when it arrived today.

I bought this because I wanted the lightest case possible that would provide protection. It is very light. As the product description explains, the case is polycarbonate (an impact and scratch resistant PLASTIC) which has been rubberized on the outside, and the cover is a soft fabric (rubberized with a felt layer on the inside. Yes, the elastic strap is glued, but so what? Glue is a good thing.

It feels "cheap" because it is very light (so light I thought the package was empty). According to my postage scale, it weighs a tad over 3 ozs. The stand does not stay in place unless it is weighted with, of all things, a Kindle Fire inserted into it. Then it works perfectly.

It is exactly as advertised: a very light, form-fitting case that offers good protection for the device with a simple display stand. Nothing fancy. Certainly doesn't... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Basic Tour of the Microshell Folio Cover by Marware, December 12, 2011

Just a basic look at the case, so you know exactly what it is you're getting into.

Also, I didn't talk about the inside of the flap at all. It's felty, so it kind of doubles as a screen cleaner as well. I'm kind of a spaz about finger smudges, but they mysteriously go away due to the inside of the cover flap.

4.0 out of 5 stars I actually like this case!, November 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
I am puzzled with all the bad reviews for this case. I was expecting something terrible to show up when I saw the reviews start popping up yesterday. The case is basically a plastic shell on the outside for the back, and a thin synthetic type material for the front, very similar (but thinner) to Apple's smartcover for iPad 2. The device fits inside the plastic shell perfectly. There is no room for it to move around at all.

The plastic part has a elastic band on the bank which can be used to insert your hand and hold the device when reading on it, or it can be brought to the front to securely close the front flap on the case. Overall it is a slim profile case that adds only marginal bulk to the device. The front flap has in inner velvet lining which comes in contact with the screen and keeps is safe.

Parts that could have been better - the front flap is slim, but a little too thin. I'm sure it will protect the device adequately, but it feels lacking in terms of... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars sturdy, great for watching videos,& walking while holding, November 28, 2011

Very glad I opted for this cover. It feels sturdy and has a few more features than some of the cheaper types of Kindle Fire covers. As you see in the video, it has the built in ability to be utilized as a stand for watching videos etc. I really like the inner strap- there are 2- one on the outside and one on the interior flap. The thicker, and tighter or more taut inside flap can be used when you are holding the Kindle in your hand, and you have the cover folded back so as to expose the screen of the device. It really makes quite a difference as opposed to just walking around and holding the kindle in your hands alone. It feels much more secure with your hand wedged in that strap. I had been using the cardboard box insert that came with the Fire , propped up, as a way to view videos before this cover arrived, and this is certainly a much better way to prop up and view the device. I suppose that the price of $44.99 is a bit high, and initially I was leaning... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Functional and formidable, albeit pricey., November 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Kindle Fire Genuine Leather Cover by Marware, Black (Accessory)
It feels nice to hold, and looks sorta slick. The little grippers feel solid, I'm hoping the Fire will fill out the bit of give my 3g has in the case though. Like was said, it's not exactly nice leather, in fact I'm not entirely convinced it's real leather, but the case does have a fairly dense padding feel to it like it would absorb a good amount in a drop. Also, all the corners are covered with the hardest padding, which is important. As for the folding display feature, it's less... what's the word... mechanical, I guess, than I would hope. It's more zen and the art of bending the cover. It's rather loosely held in that position relying on the friction between the bottom of the kindle and the padding. The case is fairly rigid, even in the crease so hopefully it'll loosen up in time, but this is a far-cry from the nifty iPad magnetic cover display. This is also far from cheap, it's actually fairly expensive, then again, all of your options are. I look at it this way, is it worth $15... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Using it with Kindle Fire -- plusses and minuses, November 15, 2011
By
cardplayer (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
I wanted a case that doubled as a stand and this fit the bill. Other option is the hard shell case which didn't appeal to me. The leather is nice enough, looks relatively elegant. The whole thing is a little thicker than I would have liked but then again so is the Fire. The Kindle snaps right in easily and is quite secure. I spent a few minutes trying to figure out how to make it into a stand (it's not obvious AT ALL) but you have to look at the picture carefully. You need to un-snap one corner of the Fire from the case and rest it on the interior cover like the picture. It's not very intuitive but it works fine. It's a bit limited in angles you can use but it will be fine I think. Overall I like the case. Not love, but like. It came very quickly -- one day shipping even though I did not pay for it.
